A Community in the CitySheridan is a magnet school that focuses on science, math, and academic excellence. Emphasis is also placed on integrating arts education throughout the curriculum. Sheridan is committed to increasing student achievement. Advanced 8th grade students take algebra. Sheridan also offers advanced programs through its comprehensive gifted program in science and language arts. Sheridan's facilities include three science labs, a computer lab, as well as Internet connected classrooms.
Mark Sheridan Academy has been recognized as a Spotlight School by the Illinois State Board of Education, a School of Distinction by the Chicago Public Schools, and Chicago Magazine identified Sheridan as one of the Best Elementary Schools in Chicago. |

Mission:Our mission is to provide an academic program built on literacy that supports a rigorous math and science curriculum. We are committed to meeting the unique learning needs of all learners, including those with special needs and who are ELL. We provide a safe, nurturing, child-centered, and diverse environment in order to develop students' intellectual, social and emotional needs. This environment is created through structured learning experiences for students, real-life context enrichment activities, support and involvement from parents, and personal/professional development for parents, teachers and staff.
